WE'RE MOVING!

After much prayer, many late night debates, and more pro/con lists then I wish to admit to, Brian and I have decided that will be moving our family at the end of June from the great state of Washington.

We will go to Colorado and spend July there with a trip to Disney squeezed in there. While we are in Colorado we will be looking at houses there as well as in Dallas and Nashville. We are leaning a lot more toward Colorado but we are also trying to keep our options open. The kids are very excited to spend some time with family and play on the boat.

We love Silverdale and it will not be easy to leave! Our 3 1/2 years here went by way too fast!

Since we can go really where ever we want since Brian is now out of the Navy, I would love to hear where you would live if you could go ANYWHERE!

I have lived in many places as you know. I really think you would love love love West Des Moines IA, Shawnee Mission, KS or Omaha NE. (in that order) I know I know farms and no shopping well that's not true at ALL! They are the most friendliest people and there is so much to do there. West Des Moines is very new age with every store you can imagine. Huge yards, cheap living with lot's of big new age homes and most of all friendly friendly friendly people. They have wonderful schools and a wide variety of them too. It's very close to Colorado! I would visit at least West Des Moines and KS as well as attend church for one Sunday. It doesn't hurt. West Des Moines was rated the best place to live for familes as well as overland, KS. The great thing about these two places is that they aren't CRAZY croweded like Colorado. You can find some great jobs there too.
Let me know if you need more information. Again I was VERY against moving to the midwest until I lived there. It's so funny because all of the young couples that move there from UTAH or IDAHO for medschool have such negitive feelings before going to Iowa/KS. After they stay there for a school they don't want to leave and end up staying there.

I would also say here where we are living but I'm not sure how you feel about the East Coast. Beach, Busch Gardens, 30 min train ride to DC, $200-$300 air tickets to denver, Water country, outlets, blah blah blah It's nice to get up at 9 on a weekday and go to Busch Gardens at Elmo land with only about 30 other people there and then go home and take a nap before a crowed comes. Sure beats the swingset. If you want to visit here we have plenty of room for you guys. We might be gone the whole month of Oct. so you could live here for the month and see what you think. We just ask that you take care of our two little westie dogs that love children.

I enjoyed your post!

I have to agree with the last poster that the midwest is suprisingly amazing. We lived in Iowa City for 4 years and loved it. The housing is affordable, the area is green and gorgeous, great schools, friendly people....I could go on and on. The only reason we didn't stay was that we didn't love the weather. Freezing in the winter, hot and humid in the summer, and tornado season was always interesting. But still, Iowa is fabulous. I spent a few days in Omaha though and wasn't all that impressed.

But I can't think of anywhere better than Kitsap County, Washington, so I'm just not even sure what to tell you. You're SURE you can't find something right here? Uggghhh. Everyone is leaving!

You'll find a great place though and make it even better by being there. We'll miss you!

I know.... I know.... Washington just isn't the same since the Durbens left, so I can understand why you want to move... the memories are painful and just magnify the void we left.... (kidding), but really though... your leaving? I just can't picture Silverdale 6th without the Wests. If I had a choice, I just loved Washington and would be happy to stay there... it's gorgeous and the climate is my ideal. But since I know your both from Colorado... and I hear amazing things about Colorado... that seems like a great fit for you too. Your a young/cute/active/sporty family and Colorado seem like a state that all those kind of people live! Goodluck with your options... sometimes it easier to make a choice when it's limited between just a few... or just having one option...then you have to have a good attitude... so that can be a learning adventure too!

I wish we had stayed in better touch because I am so amazed and inspired by your dedication to your darling family, your husband, your desire to enjoy the moment and your testimony.
